April 2013: With the ICPD Beyond 2014 processes well underway, the High Level Task Force for ICPD has been actively engaged in key discussions that will shape the global development agenda, beyond the year 2015.
The High Level Task Force for ICPD was launched in September 2012, with ACPD (now Action Canada) Executive Director, Sandeep Prasad, named as one of its members. The overall vision of the Task Force is to “strengthen political will and commitments that advance sexual and reproductive health and rights and secure their positioning in the post-2015 global development agenda.”
The High Level Task Force brings together government officials, academics and civil society to draw attention to commitments made to the International Conference on Population and Development’s (ICPD) Programme of Action, and its subsequent reviews, while also garnering support for the full achievement of such commitments. Moreover, the Task Force is mobilizing efforts to ensure that sexual and reproductive health and rights, kamagra, gender equality and the empowerment of women, adolescents and youth are central to the Post-2015 Development Agenda.
In doing so, the Task Force has produced Policy Briefs related to the Post-2015 Development Agenda as well as having submitted recommendations to the Global Thematic Consultations as part of the Post-2015 Development Agenda process. The Task Force will soon release a Position Paper on the ICPD Beyond 2014 review process.
To Co-Chairs of the High Level Task Force are: H.E. Joaquim Alberto Chissano (Former President of the Republic of Mozambique) and H.E. Tarja Halonon (Former President of the Republic of Finland). A full list of Members of the High Level Task Force, and their bios, can be found here.
