Access to abortion varies greatly by region, and some people, particularly those in rural and remote areas, must travel thousands of kilometers to get the health care they need.
Health Canada has finally approved the “abortion pill” aka Mifegymiso, a drug that has been available in the United States since 2000. Mife could provide Canadians with another more accessible and private option to terminating a pregnancy and has the potential to close gaps in access to abortion in Canada, but only if we intervene now.
We are launching an exciting online public awareness campaign to help educate the public about the complicated and restrictive drug-approval process in Canada, and about why the restrictions are a violation of the rights and freedoms of those who need access. We know we can harness the political power of social and digital media to make a difference!
