In 2014, the three leading voices for sexual health and rights in Canada decided to join forces to fight for a stronger movement. Canadians for Choice (formerly CARAL), the Canadian Federation for Sexual Health (formerly Planned Parenthood Federation of Canada), and Action Canada for Population and Development (ACPD) came together to form a unified national and international voice for change.
In the five years since then, we’ve continued to build on the 50 year legacy of these organizations and movements, through our 24/7 Access Line providing judgment-free sexual health information and support, our work at the United Nations to hold governments accountable to their human rights obligations, our awareness-building campaigns on sex-ed and STI testing, and our policy work to make sure everyone in Canada has access to comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services.
This week, we’re also celebrating 50 years of the Planned Parenthood Federation of Canada. That’s 50 years of pushing for better access to reproductive health services like contraception and abortion – and now five years of connecting that work to advancing human rights and better policies and laws.
The successes we’ve had as a movement over the years couldn’t have been possible without you. Join us for the next five years, and beyond, as we work to realize sexual and reproductive health and rights for all.
