Each December 6th, we mark the National Day of Remembrance and Action Against Violence Against Women. Today, Action Canada for Sexual Health and Rights remembers the 14 lives taken and the many lives impacted by the Ecole Polytechnique massacre in 1989.
We stand with victims and survivors of gender-based violence everywhere, and especially with those who face disproportionate rates of violence, namely trans women, racialized women, and Indigenous women. We also mourn the thousands of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit people and stand in solidarity with their families and communities. We re-commit ourselves to our work towards the elimination of gender-based violence and of misogyny in all its forms because we believe in a world where everyone is safe, healthy and free.
