We answer your questions about receiving mail, your tax receipt, updating your contact details, and more.

How do I change my monthly donation or update my contact details?

To update your banking or credit card information, please contact us by phone at 613.241.4474 x 10800. Our operating hours are from 9 am to 5 pm EST, Monday to Friday.

For security reasons, we ask that donors do not send credit card numbers by email.

To modify the amount of your gift, update your expiry date, put your donation on hold, cancel it, or update your contact information, please contact us by phone at the number above or by email at donate@actioncanadashr.org.

How can I leave Action Canada in my will?

If you are looking to leave a gift in your will to Action Canada, please see our Legacy Giving information.

Legacy donations directed to our predecessor organizations Canadians for Choice, Action Canada for Population and Development, Canadian Federation for Sexual Health or Planned Parenthood Canada are to be directed to Action Canada for Sexual Health and Rights. Please reach out to us for any necessary documents you may require Jill  Oba-McGrath jill@actioncanadashr.org.

Can I limit the amount of mail I receive?

We appreciate knowing people's communication preferences. If you would like to receive one mailing a year in either January or November, please let us know at donate@actioncanadashr.org.

Please note you may receive a final piece of mail from us, as our mailings are prepared a month in advance.

How can I make a gift in memory or in honour of someone else?

Do you issue tax donation receipts?

Yes. We are a registered Charity, and our charitable number is 10784-8319 RR0001.

How much of my donation to Action Canada goes to programmatic projects?

 At all times, Action Canada directs at least 85 percent of our revenue to fund our activities.

When will I receive my tax receipt?

One Time Donations
One-time online donations by credit card are processed right away. You will receive confirmation of your donation by email with your tax receipt attached as a PDF, within one hour of making the gift.

If your gift is a one-time donation sent to us by mail, it will be processed within a few weeks of receiving the gift.

If your donation was made online by debit, we will provide you with a tax receipt within a few weeks to allow the donation to reach our account.

Monthly donations
We issue a consolidated tax receipt for all monthly donations in February of the following year. We aim to provide you with your mailed tax receipts or your e-receipt by February 15th, at the latest. Our database sends out email receipts, please check your spam folder as well.

Will you share my contact information with any other organizations?

No, we do not sell, trade, or share our mailing list or your personal information with other organizations.

Is the person who called me an employee of Action Canada?

From time to time we work with partners in outreach campaigns that connect us to a larger audience of people who support sexual health and rights. These campaigns are done via social media platforms and followed up by a phone call.

Is my online donation secure?

Yes. The security and confidentiality of your information is our highest priority. We use industry-standard SSL (secure socket layer) technology to protect your information and provide a safe and secure environment for online donations.

Am I able to direct my donation?

Unless otherwise specified, contributions to Action Canada are directed to our general fund. Unrestricted general funds are one of the best ways to support our work, as it allows us flexibility and the ability to pivot when necessary.
