Program Overview
The Forum spanned two days, and included a series of presentations, mini workshops, and group discussions. The Forum was designed to be highly participatory and accessible, to facilitate knowledge exchange, and to strengthen peer networks and solidarity. To this end, the Forum relied on multiple modes of communication and engagement to create an accessible format prioritizing conversations, connections, and collaboration between all participants. A live graphic recording was visible alongside on-screen proceedings, while simultaneous interpretation into English and Spanish ensured constant access across languages. Participants were regularly offered space to speak on video and to make written contributions and responses to prompts through a collaborative group mural and a live chat bar. The fluid and layered format of the Forum lent itself to countless moments of spontaneous sharing, connection, and solidarity throughout the event, and sparked opportunities for future engagement.
The Forum wrapped up with a moment of reflection on the key takeaways from the event. In the words of a few participants:
“It was a great space because there were not only discussions about activities, projects and achievements but also about the challenges young people face when working in adultcentric spaces, with funders, how our values are compromised, and other issues that are usually not discussed in gatherings.”
“I take with me the strength and grit to fight for our rights! Because each experience is a motivation to fight one more day.”
“I take with me the wisdom, the struggles and the resistance shared in the Forum by all participants, to know that in many countries we are fighting the same struggle and with the same conviction – that fills my heart with feminist pride and fury.”
“The event was truly an experience I would love to repeat, (hearing about) the participants’ experiences, meeting them, learning more about what they want to do, supporting them more.”
